Description
There are about 360 species of Grevillea native to Australia,Indonesia.New Guinea,New Caledonia and Sulawesi in both in rainforest and open country. They range from prostrate (less than 20in) to trees (115ft) tall. Robyn Gordon is a cultivated hybrid.
They are good bird attracting plants, honeyeaters in particular are common visitors, They are also used as food plants by the larvae of some Lepidoptera species.
Grevillea flowers were a traditional favourite among Aborigines for their sweet nectar. This could be shaken into the hand or into a coolamon with a little water to make a sweet drink.
Drinking nectar direct from the flower is best avoided as some commonly cultivated grevillea species produce flowers containing toxic cyanide.
Twenty percent of all sales will be donated to either Rainforest rescue or BushHeritage.

Really pleased you enjoyed this one Bruce.Although this particular one is a hybrid, so much of our flora dates back to Gondwana and is very unique. I have a Skeleton Fork Fern establish itself in my rainforest garden. It is a survivor from 400million years ago.
