The corrugated lines and textures of this metal contrast nicely with the surprisingly soft concrete as do the bold black and red tones of the linear rectangle with the scrawls of the worn graffiti on the wall. This is one of my two Picks of the Day in the Best of Minimalism in Photography group for September 4.

Denise Clark replied:

Thank you so much Nikolyn. I really appreciate your support. I attempted to take this shot last year but did not get the rust patterns clear...I had a solution this year and it worked so feeling a since of achievement.

Artist's Description

Back to the Powerhouse building in New Farm Brisbane to see the exhibition of International award winning media photographs. The powerhouse operated for many years supplying electricity for the Brisbane trams but when they were axed the building became redundant and was neglected for many years. After a big clean up and clever designers were let loose, it has become a hub for alternate community uses from music, live theatre, classes, poetry meetings, films etc. and quite an assest I love that they left a lot of the original building as features. This is one.

Twenty Percent of all sales will be donated to either Bush Heritage or Rainforest Rescue.

I am also a keen gardener and the conviction grew that nothing I could create could equal the beauty shape and form of nature. Everyone sees differently, so I am hoping that the way I see the world through my lens will bring pleasure and joy to others.
