Artist's Description
I was lucky to receive this pot of beautiful red chrysanthemums for Mothers Day from my husband. The little clay birds were a college exercise a lifetime ago. The task was to create something unexpected using the method of pinch pot. Pinch pot is a good way to get the "feel" of clay where you take a small ball of clay, insert your thumb and pinch it into shape as evenly as you can. This is how these little birds were made and I decided to leave the very earthy texture and fire them in a saggar. I thought the baby bird asking for food was symbolic of Mothers Day.
Twenty Percent of all sales will be donated to either Bush Heritage or Rainforest Rescue.
About Denise Clark
I was a ceramic artist for twenty five years. However, health issues forced me to retire. I am also a keen gardener and the conviction grew that nothing I could create could equal the beauty shape and form of nature.
