I would never have found one of our tree kanagaroos in the wild...fairly rare and hard to spot in the dense rainforest tree tops. Hopefully the work that Rainforest rescue is doing in buying and restoring rainforest blocks which were in private hands and adding them to the World Heritage Area will help to save this species. I really appreciate the comment and fav.

Artist's Description

Goodfellows Tree Kangaroo originates in the Rainforests of New Guinea. In Queensland we have two types of Tree Kangaroo in our Tropical Rainforests. They are very similar. Although the Daintree Rainforest where these animals live is protected and a World Heritage Area ,large area of lowland rainforest remains unprotected and is vital for these animal's survival. An injunction against development was put on these areas although they were private owned and Rainforest Rescue is buying back these properties as they come onto the market. Many are degraded but still have valuable flora and fauna...so we clean out the weeds and rubbish and replant with suitable trees. Hopefully it will allow these beautiful animals to survive.

All proceeds from the sale of this image will be donated to Rainforest Rescue.
