Artist's Description

Buckinghamia Celsessima in only one of two known species of trees belonging to the plant family Proteacae. They grow naturally only in the rainforest of the wet tropics region of north eastern Queensland Australia but are well known and widely cultivated species in gardens and parks in Eastern and Southern mainland Australia. In Brisbane they are used as street trees. The second species was only recently discovered in 1988. In cultivation they grow to about 10m (35ft ) tall but in the wild to about 30m tall (!00ft.)
