Artist's Description
This large ceramic planter (it had a fig tree in it) was glazed with a white crater glaze which looked stunning against the blue wall behind it. I also like the red on the interior lip.
"Crater glazes are generally produced by adding compounds to the glaze which will liberate gases during the firing cycle. As the volatile gases strive to reach the surface of the glaze, they tend to form bubbles which break through the surface and pop, leaving craterlike cavities in the glaze. About Denise Clark
I was a ceramic artist for twenty five years. However, health issues forced me to retire. I am also a keen gardener and the conviction grew that nothing I could create could equal the beauty shape and form of nature. Moreton Bay Figs are native to our area and grow into massive trees. My husband does Bonsai and finds great satifaction specialising in figs with the buttress and aerial roots looking great in miniature, Glad you like this one Nancy and appreciate the comment
