As I was hanging out the wash,I glanced down and saw the beautiful patterns of decay on this bold gold leaf. It was only a part of a leaf from our Umbrella Tree and this is a macro of part of the part (if you are still with me). Umbrella Trees,Schefflera actinophylla, are native north of the Tropic of Capricorn in Queensland and the Northern Territory,New Guinea and Java. They are considered a pest in Southern Queensland because they produce racemes up to 6.5ft long containing up to 1,0000 small dull red flowers. Nectar loving birds flock to them and spread the seed in our southern forests and the umbrella trees tend to take over. However, in our backyard we are supporting a large colony of brush tailed possums which absolutely love every part of these trees and so they seldom have a chance to flower.

Wow, Denise, I could spend forever in your galleries. So love that you capture all the beauty that is so often at our feet and within eyesight as we go about our day. Mother Nature's gift of abstract transition is so eloquently presented in your "Beautiful Decay" and it's going right into my fav collection.
