Description
I will try to find out what this orchid is named. I succumbed and bought the plant at a show a couple of years ago. Last year, it fell victim to a Bush Turkey who made a mound in our small suburban yard (they average 4 tons of soil and mulch). I spent weeks rescuing plants and repotting them and trying to stop him including them in his mound. The name was lost but I saved the plant and it is flowering well. I am so pleased. now all I have to do is find out what it is besides beautiful. I found it hard to photograph as its beauty lies not just in the intricate markings and colour but in its delicacy.
Thank to Nancy Forehand of administrator of Macro Photography group, I now have the correct name for this orchid. Miltassia Izumi. It is a hybrid betwen Brassia verrucosa and Miltonia spectabilis registered in 1961 by CM Fitch. Izumi is a cultivar that originated out of Carmel Orchids in Hawaii.

Thank you so much Ann. Not an orchid grower really. This plant was an impulse buy at an orchid show and I was over the moon when it flowered for me. Appreciate your support.

Thank you so much Sunil. I was so proud of getting a flower on this orchid plant after all it suffered...dragged out of its pot and headed for the large turkey mound before I rescued it. Really appreciated.
